The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (1942). The Sierra Sunrise Wellness Group aims to guide both ourselves and our dear community and friends toward feeling a greater sense of overall well-being in mind, body, and soul.
You have this moment to begin the rest of your awakened life, and the Sierra Sunrise Wellness Group is here to help you learn how.
Sierra Sunrise Wellness Group is owned and operated by Nora Ann Shannon, a Marriage and Family Therapist-Intern, in the Midtown community of Reno. Nora Ann is also the Co-Owner of Pure Yoga, located in the same building as SSWG, where she works as a yoga instructor in addition to her duties as coordinator of workshops and classes. Nora Ann believes in attempting to facilitate the opportunity for each person to realize his or her own abundance and gift of simply being. She hopes to make a difference in this world in as many ways as possible. Her predominant focus is on mental health resources becoming more readily available in order to provide a different choice for those who might be more inclined toward violence as the answer to their difficulties with coping.
Nora Ann charges $100 per therapy session; however, she is also on a sliding fee scale taking clients for as low as $50 with the understanding that many citizens who do not have the financial means to pay for therapy out of pocket or who are not covered through their insurance are also likely experiencing a desperate need for hope, for a healthy outlet to express life’s difficulties, and an opportunity to change his or her life as facilitated by the Socratic dialogue of a counseling session. In addition to therapy and yoga, Nora Ann is a Reiki Master and is in training to become a Shaman healer.
The Sierra Sunrise Wellness Group is committed to facilitating the opportunity for citizens of Reno and surrounding communities to reach out, learn, and explore mind, body, and soul principles of wellness. In every new day, there comes another sunrise of potential for a life well-lived through the cultivation of happiness in the here and now.
